The Cisco MDS 9500 Series Supervisor-2 module has been created to incorporate multiprotocol switching and routing, intelligent SAN services and storage applications onto highly scalable SAN switching platforms.


It offers adaptability and investment protection, intelligent network services, advanced FICON services, and an inclusive security framework. The MDS 9500 far exceeds the basic requirements of non-disruptive software upgrades and redundancy of all critical hardware components to deliver an exceptional level of availability.

It also boasts fully redundant system bandwidth and is scalable, delivering up to 1.4Tbps of nonblocking performance to Cisco MDS 9500 Series Multilayer Directors.

  • Product Compatibility: Cisco MDS 9500 Series directors
  • Software Compatibility: Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 3.0 (1) or later
  • Cards, Slots, Ports: Two Cisco MDS 9500 Series Supervisor-2 modules required per system
  • Performance: Achieve chassis densities up to 528 ports by combining with the MDS 9513 Multilayer Director and Cisco 4-Gbps and 10-Gbps Fibre Channel switching modules
