Features of the IBM DS8300 include:

DS8300 base models support up to four expansion models. With expansion models, you can expand the models as follows: With one expansion model, you can support the following expanded capacity and number of adapters:

• Up to 384 disk drives, for a maximum capacity of 384 TB
• Up to 32 fibre-channel/FICON or ESCON host adapters

With two expansion models, you can support the following expanded capacity:

• Up to 640 disk drives, for a maximum capacity of 640 TB

With three expansion models, you can support the following expanded capacity:

• Up to 896 disk drives, for a maximum capacity of 896 TB

With four expansion models, you can support the following expanded capacity:

• Up to 1024 disk drives, for a maximum capacity of 1024 TB

Dual 4-way processor complex

• Up to 128 disk drives, for a maximum capacity of 128 TB
• Up to 256 GB of processor memory (cache)
• Up to 16 fibre-channel/FICON or ESCON host adapters
