DLT/SDLT

HP DLT/SDLT Tape offers a high capacity with a low cost per GB.This is ideal for customers who already have existing investments in DLT backup technology.  This tape provides capacities ranging from 40Gb to 600Gb compressed.  It also contains sustained transfer rates from 1.5MB/sec to 72MB/sec.  DLT/SDLT Tape has laser guided magnetic technology, which increases the number of tracks available for recording.  These drives are industry standard technology to ensure compatibility across HP and non-HP drives, with scalable capacity and performance.

Ultrium

Ultrium (LTO) was originally developed as a replacement for DLT. Ultrium has a similar design of ½-inch wide tape in a (slightly smaller) single reel cartridge. Because of the size it was easy for robotic tape library vendors to convert DLT libraries to Ultrium (LTO) Libraries.  An Ultrium drive can read data from a cartridge in its own generation and at least the two prior generations.  The Ultrium can also write data to a cartridge in its own generation as well as a cartridge from the immediate prior generation.

DAT

HP DAT is the most successful tape backup technology of all time.  DAT has had more than 18 million DAT drives shipped since its introduction in 1989. With a current world-wide installed base of over 6 million drives, HP has long been the market leader in DAT technology.  HP DAT drives are the first choice for data protection for small and medium businesses.  These drives are frequently used for operating system backup and software loading on mission-critical servers.  The HP DAT family offers HP’s unique one-button-disaster-recovery (OBDR) feature that provides customers with the ability to restore their systems quickly and effortlessly.
