Cisco 2901 series routers have the capability to host Cisco, custom and third-party applications on high performance Services Ready engine modules. Each of these modules has their own processor, memory, storage and network interfaces which work independent of the resources of the host router. This reduces physical space requirements and power consumption while allowing central management.
