4 (four) processor card slots that can hold 2-core IBM POWER6 processor cards running at either 3.5 or 4.2 GHz
8204-E8A comes in 2-, 4-, 6-, and 8-core configurations employing the POWER6 chip on up to 4 dual core processor cards.
9409-M50 comes in 1-4 Way (4 cores) configurations.
1 GB to 64 GB per processor card. Available memory features are 667 MHz or 400 MHz depending on memory density.
128 GB system max with 3.5 GHz processor cards (8-core configuration)
256 GB system max with 4.2 GHz processor cards (8-core configuration)
Up to 6 (six) SAS DASD internal 3.5-inch disk drives or up to 8 (eight) SAS DASD internal 2.5-inch disk drives. The 2.5 inch Small Form Factor (SFF) disks are not supported by IBM i.
Max 5 (five) hot-swappable slots (Two PCIe x8 slots, short card length; One PCIe x8 slot, full card length)

Choice of DASD backplane options for the IBM Power 550:

6 x 3.5-inch DASD backplane with no external SAS port (default)
